5 Daily Steps for Beautiful Skin
16th May 2014
Are you feeling as if you're not giving your skin enough love? Do you need advice on your daily skin care routine?
Well then look no further than these five simple steps for the prefect skincare routine from guest writer and beauty therapist, Jade Wateron.
Step 1 - Cleanse and Tone
To achieve the best results from cleansing, it is best to carry out two cleanses. The first cleanse, known as the ‘superficial cleanse’, will remove any make-up and impurities from the skin.
During the second cleanse, or to use the correct term ‘deep cleanse’, the cleanser will penetrate much deeper in to the skin, help to flush out your pores and give your face a really deep clean.
When applying your cleanser, start at the décolleté and work upwards, in circular movement, towards the forehead. Then remove with a damp muslin cloth.
Toning is a must after cleansing as it brings your skin back to its natural PH level.
Step 2 - Exfoliate
Exfoliation is something that a lot of people tend to miss out of their skincare routine. We should all be exfoliating up to 3 times a week, after we have cleansed and toned, for the best results.
When it comes to a facial exfoliator, you want to chose something that is not to harsh on your skin. Willow’s Gentle Exfoliator is a prefect choice and is great for those with sensitive skin.
Apply and remove your exfoliator in the same way as your cleanser, paying particular attention to those dry or congested areas.
Step 3 – Super Serums
Serums are fast becoming one of the best sellers on the market and I believe they are a great addition to anyone’s skin care routine. Whether you need extra hydration, a bit of lifting and firming or worry about ageing, there will be a serum that suits you. Willow’s serums provide a botanical boost – nourishing and protecting your skin against free radicals.
A apply a thin application of your chosen serum once a day from your décolleté to your forehead, underneath your day or night cream.
Step 4 - Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise
A few of us will already have this step down to a tee, but for those of you who don’t, you need to listen up! Whether your skin is oily, dry, sensitive or mature, we all need to moisturise. TWICE A DAY.
In the morning, you want to choose a light breathable moisturiser. A cream that will protect your skin throughout the day but also allow it to breathe. A great way to wear a day cream is under your make-up for an extra layer of protection. A perfect example of a breathable day cream is Willow’s Hydrating Moisturiser.
When it comes to the night, apply another application of your day cream if hydrating is not your main concern, but if you suffer from dry and dehydrating skin I would suggest using a thinker cream that will help to repair your skin while you sleep. The Advance Intense Repair Cream from Willow, is the prefect solution to your night cream woes.
Step 5 – Never forget about the Eyes and Lips!
The skin around our eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of our face and therefore normal facial moisturisers shouldn’t be applied to that area. You should have a specific eye serum that has been formulated for the skin around the eyes.
Apply a few drops of your chosen eye serum (before your facial serum or moisturiser) under the eyes and just above the eye lid. Work it in with circular clockwise motions around the eye socket.
To finish off your daily skin care routine. Add a thin application of your chosen lip balm to your lips. This will protect your them throughout the day and give them a glossy finish. Willow’s Luxury Lip Balm is a great choice for plumped and protected lips for the whole day.
Professional willow luxury facials are now available at SenSpa.
