Sound Baths - Supporting Health Through Sound Vibration

Sound Baths - Supporting Health Through Sound Vibration

In our quest for wellbeing, we often overlook the power of sound as a therapy modality.

Sound baths, a practice that employs therapeutic tones and vibrations, are gaining recognition for their health benefits and can have a profound impact on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Getting started: what is a sound bath?

In short, a sound bath is a meditation class that focuses on ambient sound as a guide to help participants focus on their breathing, a specific mantra, an emotion or a part of the body. By following the sound, you learn to live in the moment and meditate your way towards deep relaxation. These classes are usually hosted by sound therapists or instructors, who will play the sounds during the session, as you find a comfortable position to lie in and let the sound take over.

What are the benefits of a sound bath?

Sound baths induce a state of deep relaxation, allowing stress to melt away. The resonant sounds and vibrations facilitate a meditative experience that calms the nervous system and promotes a sense of tranquillity. Need we say more? If you find it difficult to reach that meditative state and are craving some deep relaxation, a sound bath could be just the experience you need.

By promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and calming the mind, sound baths can help improve sleep quality and combat insomnia. They can also facilitate emotional release and provide a space for self-reflection. The vibrations can help release emotions and can support physical restorative processes within the body. Participants often report reduced muscle tension, relief from chronic pain, and a greater sense of vitality.

Looking for a local sound bath session?

Join us at SenSpa for a free sound bath event on Friday 15th September to celebrate World Wellness Weekend.

Experience a sound journey given by Barry Mason and his partner Lina Lotto, using gongs and other hand-made instruments.

Barry Mason is one of very few gong makers to craft his gongs from titanium. Titanium has a rich, deep resonance unlike other metals. For more on titanium gongs, Barry’s work and sound journeys, visit his website and YouTube channel:

For the session, all you will need to do is bring something comfortable to lie on, a pillow, water, and you may like to bring a blanket so you’re comfortable and cosy.

The sound experience will last between 1 and 1½ hours.

Book your complimentary place here. Please note that spaces are limited. If you book and are not able to attend please cancel so that we can offer your place to someone else. We look forward to seeing you there!
